A Death Experience (doyin)

A death experience (Doyin): I felt my spirit leave my body immediately and it was finished...

I felt my soul leave my body until the tyres screeched suddenly. Have I ever thought of it? Would I have ever pictured it? What if felt like standing on the line between life and death? Never would I have known. It was a Saturday morning, and Doyin unexpectedly woke up earlier than usual. Even when her friend, Charles had told her they would go to market the next day since it was a Saturday and also market day to get ingredients and other things for his upcoming birthday. She wasn't the type to be overly prepared for things like that. It should just go the way it will.

Being a very good cook, it would be best for her to get the ingredients herself since she was even the one preparing all sorts of food for the grand party. "Are you ready yet?" She heard the voice through her window as she lay tiredly on her bed, and was just staring at the wooden white painted ceiling.

"Doyin!!, It is past nine already, and the sun is going to get scorching soon," She heard his loud voice again. Doyin lazily stood up and opened the metal door for him to enter she resumed her position, not wanting to hold a conversation. "Stand up my friend. How can a businesswoman be so lackadaisical about her work," he jibed. "I feel very sick Charles, can we go tomorrow?" She tried to persuade him to change his mind, but he already had backups, giving her many reasons why today was the best day. Reluctantly after much talk, She got up to wash her face, since she had taken her bath before. She wore a wig and light makeup because her face was swollen and puffy, and that did the trick.

They first went to a restaurant to eat breakfast, which Doyin struggled to eat. She was feeling so languid. Then next, they had to go to the bank ATM to withdraw money, but the queue was nothing to write home about. There were exhausted people, standing in line to withdraw money from just one ATM source since, the other two were not dispensing money. There was many shouts and fights amongst people who wanted to jump lines from the back to front and those that fought, saying no one keeps space for another. "What a terrible system," Doyin muttered and turned to Charles, who had almost gotten into a brawl with a plus-sized woman, who pushed him with her big body thinking he wanted to stay in her space. "Get out before I push you, mosquito-legged guy," she raged.

She could not help but laugh at Charles who was surprised by the woman's sudden attitude but wasn't ready to give an audience to her. Doyin also laughed at her weird-looking makeup which seemed smuggled from excess heat and profuse sweating. They both boarded a bike and straight, headed to the market. Soon, they were caught up in heavy traffic and it was already past eleven in the morning. The road parts before the market area were so busy and crowded, that the biker struggled to drive as slow as he could to keep pace. He later took another route on an untarred road, and they arrived at a close junction closer to the main market this time around.

Suddenly, the bike ran into an unexpected pothole and they all fell from the bike immediately, in the middle of the road. They all were still in pain laying flat on the floor and feeling numb from the heavy fall. "Heeeh, heeeehhhh, stoppppp," numerous voices were screaming. "Jesuuuuuuu, oluwa ooooo." "Please, someone stop that trailer, another voice screamed in anxiety. Doyin could see the big truck that was about to crush them into pieces just five feet away, and she felt her spirit leave her body. The sight of big speeding tyres gouged her soul out she knew death was the next thing.

But the wheels stopped right in front of her head. Right in front of her head, Charles's arm, and the biker's belly; the tires came to a halt. Even people who knew what could have happened wailed in joy for them as the crowd helped them up. They were so many praises from thankful people who had not witnessed such horrific sight. Doyin crumpled to a faint immediately and went into coma for days. The memories replayed, relived, and scarred her. Only God could have done that. His love is immeasurable. It was a trauma that dreaded her whole spirit at that moment but her body for a lifetime.
