“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that everyone may receive the things done in his body, according to that, he hath done, whether it be good or bad”(2 Cor. 5:10)
The consequences of sexual sin among Christians are worse than that of war, disease, economic failure, or terrorism. What happens to people in this life is far less dreadful than what can happen to them in the life to come. Jesus said, "And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: fear him which after he hath killed, hath power to cast into hell. Yea, I say unto you, Fear him!". "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad" (Luke 12:4, 5; Matt 10: 28; 2 Cor 5:10).
We need the training to fight this war and know the enemy within. We cannot know another person's heart, but deceitfulness keeps people from facing the truth of whom they are inside. An examination of the darkness and ignorance in one's heart should not be avoided. A look at indwelling sin is humiliating, and it takes courage and wisdom for believers to have an interest in pleasing the Lord and to know His will (Rom 12:1-2; Eph 5:10, 17) and to avoid sinful behavior that grieves the Holy Spirit (Eph 4:30).
Body Defilement
One of the dangers of immorality and sexual sin is that it defiles the body. "Flee fornication, every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committed fornication sinned against his own body" (1 Cor 6: 18). Sexual sin is the sole defiling sin of the body of a Christian. The place God preferred to tabernacle in, His temple. "And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ being the chief corner stone; in whom all the building fitly framed together growth unto a holy temple in the Lord; in whom ye also are built together for a habitation of God through the Spirit" (Eph 2:20-22). We build ourselves together for the habitation of God, to abound God through the spirit.
The sin of the flesh is the sole technicality of the Devil that makes the Spirit of God have no effect on you. "Let no sin reigns in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lust thereof. Neither yields your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from death and your members as an instrument of righteousness unto God" (Rom 6:12-13). You can only defile your body if you yield it unto sin when you put interest in the sin you want to commit through evil thoughts in your mind. "For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit the things of the spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace" (Rom 8:5, 6).
God will never tempt you. You're tempted because you feel the lust of the flesh, its gratification, and enticement. You see a young woman in her transparent outfit of nudity; you focus your entire mind on the scene. Your body must respond in reaction to her seductive mechanism- what you look at and perceive in your heart. However, every man is drawn away by his own lust and enticed. You are ruined through the conception of the unclean thoughts (James 1:13-15).
Bitterness of Mind
Another aftermath of sexual sin is that after enjoying it for a season. You will soon end by regretting doing it. "For the lips of a strange woman drop as a honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: but her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell" (Pro 5: 3-5: 7:27: Ecc7:26). If you're committing sexual sin with a strange person, you feel like you're on top of the world, afterward, you harvest the seed you have sowed-Bitterness of mind. This is what you will reap if you are a victim of sexual sin. "For he that sowed to the flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption" (Gal 6:8a). There will be no joy in you; you feel condemned within your spirit. For you have sown the wind, you reap the whirlwind (Hosea 8: 7). When the physical sensation is over, the pain of the reality will manifest- unhealed hurt. "But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. A wound and dishonor shall he get, and his reproach shall not be wiped away" (Pro 6: 32, 33). May you not be condemned in Jesus' name? "Because the law of the Spirit of life has set you free from the law of sin and death" (Rom 8:2).
