Dinner With Demons

A passion examination of Tinubu's desperate presidential ambition- the fake clergy episode

We have finally come to a time in our political history where madness seems to come and dwell with us. It is so sad, yet a reality to really think about. Sometimes it seems to me that there is no point in thinking about Nigeria issues, but I think it is imperative to do so. Unless we think, we cannot make any headway in any aspect of this country. Because as it stands, the demons seem to be calling us for dinner; unless care is taken, we may dine with them. That is why we cannot but begin to be more critical about the state of affairs in this country, Nigeria. We cannot afford to have DINNER WITH DEMONS.

The sad event of yesterday, I mean the APC and fake Christian leaders saga, left me with many things to think about. It is sad indeed. In a political dispensation where we are looking for men of integrity, credibility, sincerity, honesty, civility, maturity and a good sense of humanity, APC just went ahead to tell us that they do not possess any of these desired qualities we are looking for. How can they be so desperate? How can they be so dishonest? How can they be so immature? How can they be so irresponsible? How can they be so fraudulent? How can they be so inconsiderate of Religious sanctity? How can they be so inconsiderate of Religious boundaries that they try so hard to enforce, such that they even shed innocent blood in the name of blasphemy? Like how and why will APC and his team go ahead to impose legitimacy by creating false and fake religious leaders to be present at their unveiling of the vice presidential candidate? By the way, is there anything new about the person whom they claim to be unveiling? It is still had to understand why is so desperate to become the next president of Nigeria that they are ready to use any means at all to get there. This very act tells us how desperate he is to be the president. First, it was taken a Muslim-Muslim ticket which was met with stiff opposition, which he failed to head. Now, he has gone ahead to make himself fake Christian leaders gain validation. Again, why is it so desperate?

To begin with, who are the political strategists of this so-called APC? Where is their common sense? Who or what gave them the initiative to get fake pastors? What were their thoughts when they thought of trying this? That we still live in Nigeria when he was governor of Lagos? I mean, Nigerians have eyes to see. Social Media is there to reveal a lot. People know their pastors. A common reason, even without education, should have told them that it is a wrong move. Nigerians are not insane. Nigerians are not blind. We can see and hear. The question again is, why is it so desperate?

Furthermore, this drama of theirs tells us what kind of leadership to expect; a leadership without focus and vision. This act tells us clearly that Tinubu's leadership will be one that is not sensitive to the common things that happen around. For if it were, they should have been able to know that hiring fake Christian leaders is a slap on those who taught them right from their primary school through their secondly, tertiary, and even Ph.D. studies -that is, if they actually went to school. Even a child in primary school will not try such a trick or be this foolish. Imagine a man coming home with another woman to use her in bed and telling his children that she is their mother because it is their mother who always sleeps on the same bed with him. Do you want to tell me that the children will not know that their father is lying? This is exactly what APC did yesterday. It is a shame on them. A shame on those who thought them. A shame on those who trust them. A shame on those who praise them. A shame on those who believe in them. A shame for those who spent money on their education. A shame on those who have any kind of hope in them. It is a shame, too, for the media that report that bishops and Christian leaders were there to show their support for a Muslim-Muslim ticket. It is a shame on us Nigerians that our aspiring leaders are so dumb and clueless. The question is, how did we even get here? How did we get to this fog? So thick a fog!

Secondly, it gives us Christians more reasons to be skeptical about the Muslim-Muslim ticket. Yes. It is a threat to our faith and survival. It is now obvious that Tinubu nor his cohorts (cohorts because what they did is criminal) do not have any regard for our faith. They have 'crossed our red line' and abused our faith right before us. If Tinubu and his gang can go ahead to impose impostors to answer YES for our NO, what can they not do when they come into power? It means that they can form a 'CAN' that speaks to support their evils when our CAN disagrees. We should also bear in mind that this very act done by APC is capable of igniting religious war. Thank God Christians are meek and gentle like the Lamb. We bless God that Christians, Know peace, love peace, and desire peace. Otherwise, the story would have been different.

But tragic enough, we have Christians there when all these bad decisions are taken! Our Vice President is a Christian Pastor, a Ph.D. holder, and a SAN... Well, I think it is all for good. The Bible will admonish us to give God thanks in all circumstances. We thank God for these very actions of theirs, for it has enlightened us more on who Tinubu is and that he is indeed the BAT!

My dear people, what is it that we want to see about 2023 election candidates that we have not seen? How again do we want to be told who deserves our time and energy on election day? Now the ball is in our court. The knife and the animal for sacrifice are before us. It is left for us to do what is necessary. I remember as a young boy in secondary school, my government teacher taught us that one of the basic and necessary characteristics of any government is legitimacy. I can further remember that he said legitimacy means acceptance by the people, through which the elected government is given the mandate, that is, willpower and support by the people. In simple terms, they accept him or her as their leader. A government gains this legitimacy when it is elected through a free, fair, and credible election. At this point, I doubt if the APC candidates for the presidential race have any legitimacy from one-third of the rational and sane people in this country. Therefore, as we prepare for this election, let us lookout for men and women of credible identity. The writing is clear; we don't need angels to tell us. At least from the physical realm and from what is observable to our vision and reason, we can make a decision that will inspire our judgment. We need to rise above ethnic, religious, or party affiliations. This is not what we should be holding onto now or ever. What we need now is integrity, credibility, accountability, honesty, sensitivity, creativity, industry, a high sense of initiative, a good sense of humanity, and a sound capacity for reasoning and common sense. We don't need men or women who will come home with prostitutes and expect us to believe that they are our mothers. We are way too big and enlightened for that... Prepare to vote wisely and protect the votes; it is necessary. We cannot afford to have a DINNER WITH DEMONS.
