Don't Be Idle

Don't be idle: God never supports lazy people. No matter how little, do something...

"So you're just going to sit at home doing nothing abi? A full-grown adult like you?" Gbenga's mum asked him, "So after training you through school, finished service, you want to sit at home, eating and sleeping all day?", His father added to the question, "No, dad, it's not like that. There's a particular opening I'm waiting for, and it's going to take time. I'm trying to be patient", Gbenga answered "Which opening is that o?", His mum asked

"They will soon start recruiting new teachers in wonderland school, and that's what I'm waiting for. I know I'll definitely be picked", he said. "So from now till then, what will be doing? Don't you know that an idle hand is the devil's workshop?" his father asked. "If you're eventually given the job, won't you need money to sort out some things before your first pay? Or do you think we are going to give you everything?", His father continued.

"You had better listen to my advice; look for something else you can do while you prepare for your dream job. You can apply to one of these schools here for now. Then you'll be able to save up something tangible, and we'll be able to support you if needed. You know I won't support a lazy son", he advised

"Yes, dad, I know. What you said actually makes a lot of sense", Gbenga said. "I'll go fix myself up with one of these schools for now, just as you said" "Thank you, dad," Gbenga concluded.

"You are welcome, my son," his father replied. You see, while we keep seeking our dream job, we can't afford to be idle. Be busy with something first, it might be related to your bigger picture job, and it might not. Just be engaged with something legitimate while we keep working on our dream, building ourselves for that greater picture.

Don't forget Moses; he was tending to his father-in-law's sheep before his opportunity came to lead God's people. That great opportunity is waiting for the better version of you, be prepared, so you don't lose it. What about Simon? He was busy with his fishing job till he met the Master, who made him a fisher of men instead. God doesn't use idle hands. Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might.
