Exceedingly Loved

This is an unveiling of the exceeding love of God towards humanity as demonstrated through the perfect sacrifice of the Lord Jesus. It goes right through the fall to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and seeks to reveal the fact that God loves you irrespective of who you are present.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. — John 3:16

The good news of the gospel is that God loves the world so much that He gave Jesus—His beloved Son— to save us. He so desired a relationship with human beings that He sent Jesus, His beloved Son, to restore us to Himself. He was so desperate for our return to Him that He was willing to offer up His one and only special Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Though originally created in the image and likeness of God with the spiritual or supernatural ability to fellowship with God, human beings fell out of fellowship with Him as a result of the transgression of the first man, Adam. Humanity, in Adam, lost the boldness, authority, or legal right to stand before God or to enjoy the goodness of His presence. For through the sin of Adam, the whole human race became sinners—alienated or separated from God and the experience of Him. But thanks be to God, who loves us so much that He provided a way of reconciliation through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.

We are told that “God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them” (2 Corinthians 5:19). Do you know why God did that? It’s simply because He loves us and is not willing that we perish. He gave us Jesus so that we won’t perish but receive His life and be restored to fellowship with Him and live in a continual experience of Him.

You see, beloved, God is so full of love and compassion towards humanity. We occupy a place in God that no other creature occupies, not even the angels. Human beings are made in the image and likeness of God. We are made exactly like God in nature. Through Adam, part of the image and likeness of God that we (every human being) have received is the ability to exercise free will and the ability to live forever. Every human being, whether saved or not, has eternal life in the sense that every human being has a soul that lives forever, just like God.

Remember that man is essentially a spirit being; he has a soul and lives in a body. His body, which is his mortal side, will die, but his soul and spirit will live forever.

So, when Adam sinned against God by eating from the tree of the knowledge of Good and evil in direct disobedience to the commandment of God, it became necessary for God to send them out of the garden lest they also eat the fruit of life and live physically forever in that fallen state. There would have been no opportunity for man’s redemption if that had happened. Human beings would have been irredeemable—just like the demons.

However, God loved human beings so much that even in Adam and Eve’s fallen state, He made an effort to protect the plan of redemption by sending them out of the garden and stationed an angel there to prevent them from coming back. Through transgression, Adam and his wife, Eve, had received the sin nature or life of Satan and became fallen to the depths of sin where they became slaves, not only to sin but also to Satan himself.

Nevertheless, in the eternal plan of the ages in the mind of God, a time would come when the beloved Son of God—Jesus Christ our Lord—would come in the flesh as a human being and conquer sin in His body. Then, He would proceed to the cross, where He would be judged and punished on account of humanity’s sin. The suffering of Jesus, which took place two thousand years ago, was two-fold. On the one hand, He was being judged by man, after which He was crucified and buried.

On the other hand, He was being judged by God as the substitute for the whole world carrying the sin of the world on Himself. He became as we were—sinners—so that He could suffer for us on the cross. After He died and was buried by men, spiritually, He was taken as a captive to hell, where He suffered the full punishment for sin. And after satisfying the full demands of divine justice, He conquered sin and Satan once and for all, taking away his authority over the world. Then, the King of Glory—the Lord Jesus Christ—rose triumphantly from the grave—death having no power or authority over Him.

After His resurrection, He proceeded to heaven, where He presented His blood at the Mercy seat in the holy of hollies for our perfect atonement. Through His perfect sacrifice, redemption and remission of sins have been provided through the blood of Christ, and God accepts the sinner on the basis of his faith in the substitutionary work of Jesus Christ.

The right or legal authority and boldness to stand before God has been provided through the perfect sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the result of God’s exceeding love. He loves us so much that He made the condition of salvation as simple as possible so that you and I can be brought into His presence as His beloved children.

If you will receive God’s special offer of love by believing in Jesus, He promised that you would receive eternal life. This is the very life of God which contains the righteousness and divine nature of God. This is the quality that Adam lost through transgression. This life gives you the legal right or authority to stand before God without any guilt or consciousness of sin.

This is the life superior to sin, Satan, and sickness. The life of peace, joy, and excellence comes only from God Himself. It is not religion that God offers you, but eternal life— freedom and righteousness in the spirit. He offers you a relationship with Himself and an experience of His blessings. You can have it right now. All that is required is that you believe.

Please pray with me: Father, I accept your call to salvation through the sacrifice of your Son—Jesus Christ. I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again for my justification. I believe with my heart, and I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ, from this moment forward, is the Lord and Saviour of my life.

I surrender my heart and will to Him and declare that I am now born again – a beloved child of God in Jesus Christ. Amen! Wow! Congratulations beloved. You are now a child of God. You are now a member of God’s global family. You can now begin to enjoy a new relationship with your precious heavenly Father through the daily study of the Bible and prayers.

I also encourage you to prayerfully locate a Bible-believing Church close to you and begin to enjoy the fellowship of other believers in Christ.
