Fear weighs me down; I feel it pressing down on my chest while I sleep; Feel it dragging behind me while I walk;

Fear weighs me down
I feel it pressing down on my chest while I sleep
Feel it dragging behind me while I walk

Fear is like a steel vise on my neck
It chokes down my voice as I try to speak
It quells all my protests before they leave my lips

Fear adorns me with manacles.
Restrains me when I try to act
It turns me into some kind of catatonic voyeur

Fear is a lifelong friend and lover
Closer to me than my shadow
More intimate than my thoughts
