How To Improve Your Self This 2022

I know we're already at the first half of the year and it seems like time is not on your side. Don't worry about that! Read this article to see the steps you can take towards ensuring that you end the year better than you started.

TIPS ON DEVELOPING YOURSELF THIS 2022

1. ACCEPT YOURSELF :

Self-love begins with self-acceptance. I'm not saying you should ignore your flaws or weaknesses and not strive to be better. No! What I am talking about is accepting your person. The things that make you. They may not be what society views as the "in things" but, oh well, God gave them to you. Own up to them. Do you have a flat nose? So what?! You're short? Yeah, so?! Your hair color is not the kind that many consider being pretty? Who cares?! Do people feel your talents are too mundane and ordinary? So?! Others see someone your size as too skinny, too fat, too curvy, too tall, or whatnot? That's their opinion and as you know we are all entitled to have it. Opinions are not facts. So, don't allow the opinions of others to dictate how you live your life. God doesn't want that for you.

2. PRACTICE A LIFESTYLE OF GRATITUDE:

Always find something to be grateful for. There's always something to be grateful for. There are only two options here: One, choose to find the good in every situation. Two, keep wallowing in how unfair and bad what you are going through is. I want peace of mind so I choose the former. I'm not saying staying positive will chase away the problems. It is normal to feel sad when something bad happens or things don't go as planned. But, after the sad phase, what next? Forge ahead!

3. DO NOT STOP LEARNING:

Keep an open mind and always be ready to learn new things. Don't hold too tight to "old wrong knowledge". Always be ready to learn, unlearn and relearn. Learning never ends, so keep at it!

4. READ BOOKS AND WATCH ENLIGHTENING YOUTUBE VIDEOS:

I know you like to watch Taaoma's skits. Yes, I know you enjoy watching Oga Sabinus in action But...Don't spend all your time entertaining yourself. Do something that will improve your mental prowess. Read books and watch YouTube videos in your field. Groom yourself. Increase your knowledge. Increasing your knowledge has a way of boosting your confidence because when you speak, you speak facts. Search for the videos of those that have gone ahead of you and learn from them.

5. SET GOALS AND WORK HARD TOWARDS ACHIEVING THEM:

I'm sure you, like everyone wants a better life. But, what exactly do you want to improve upon. Look at the different aspects of your life and state in clear terms how you want to be better. Financially, you may want to double or triple your income. Physically, you may want to start exercising thrice a week and eating more healthy foods and less junk. Socially, you may be planning to network more and meet new people or just make a habit of taking yourself out to have fun. Spiritually, you may want to improve your involvement in church activities. And so on.

These goals may be long-term or short-term. Whatever the case may be, state them clearly. Write them down and outline the challenges you are likely to face along the way. (I have an article on How To Set Achievable Goals. You can check it out.)

6. TAKE CARE OF YOUR SPIRITUAL NEEDS:

Draw close to God every day. Don't neglect fellowship and other church gatherings. Take time to personally grow your faith in God.

7. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO TRY NEW THINGS. TAKE A NEW COURSE OR LEARN A NEW SKILL:

Leaving that cocoon of comfort that you have managed to build around yourself may be pretty difficult. Comfort zones are pointers towards your limits, but sometimes those limits are the problem. Don't be afraid of stepping out. Let yourself go and put yourself out there. Acquire that skill you're scared of. Try that game or sport that you have been holding yourself back from trying. I'm not saying you should be reckless. Exercise caution but don't allow your fear of leaving your comfort zone to limit you.

8. LOOK YOUR BEST EVERY DAY:

The saying, "Dress how you want to be addressed," is not a cliche. It's a universal truth that will never lose its meaning. Good dressing boosts confidence so get started on dressing up in not just a decent manner but also an appropriate manner. Show up every day dressed for success!

9. MEET NEW PEOPLE:

Networking is quite important. As long as you're alive you'll continue to interact with people. So, improve your social skills. Meet new people in your field and outside it.

10. DO NOT NEGLECT YOUR HEALTH:

Your health is of utmost importance. Do not neglect it. Learn to listen to your body. Take a break when you feel tired. Eat healthily. Get enough sleep. Drink enough water. Don't allow symptoms to persist before you go get treated.

11. START NOW:

I know the year is gradually coming to an end and you feel like you have lost a lot of time, but reading this article up till this point means you desire to be better. It's better late than never, as they say. Start now! You can still change your life for the better! I hope you learned something. Which of these steps will you start taking today?
