“ I Did Not See This Coming.”

The sin series...Raina exclaimed as Shruti, Rohan and she entered Amisha Mishra's house. Lying on the sofa with her eyes wide in shock was Amisha Mishra.

"What do we have?" Shruti asked Avinash as he sat examining the victim. "She was killed between 36 to 48 hours." "Just after Aditya was murdered then?" "Possibly." "Dammit. What the hell is happening?" "You think she is related to Aditya's case?" "Apparently, yes. They had some sort of a relationship. She was also most probably the last person to see him alive. We were coming here to talk to her regarding that." "Well, you are too late," Avinash said, exasperated. "Same MO?" "Yep. Multiple stabbing." "Physical injuries?" "No. Guess the killer has a soft spot for women. No sexual assault either. Additional information, I can let you know when we get the body to the lab." "Thanks."

Constable Shetty came over just then. "Ma'am... We have a witness." Shruti got up and went near the apartment door. "She is Manisha Jindal. Stays in the opposite apartment. She saw something." He said, pointing to 70 + a year old lady. With big thick glasses, she stood there in silence as police people surrounded the whole area. "I am Officer Shruti Ravindran. What did you see, ma'am?" "It was Thursday night. Around 9 pm when I saw Amisha come out of the lift. She looked shaken. I asked her what happened, and she just looked at me as if she didn't understand what I was asking her." "Then?" "Then I saw her fumble for her keys and open the door. She had barely gone in for 2 minutes when a woman came knocking." "A woman?" "Yes." "Can you describe her?" "Uhmm... Slim. Tall. She was wearing those high heels which clicked when she walked. That's how she got my attention." "What about her face?" "I am sorry. The tube light of this passageway wasn't lit at that time. And I have shortsighted eyesight, as you can see." "Right. then what happened?" "She knocked on the door, and they spoke for like 10 seconds, and then she went inside the apartment." "Could you hear what they talked about?" "No." "When did she leave?"

"I don't know. When I didn't see Amisha the whole day yesterday, I got worried. And then today I had a key to her house, so I opened it and then… Oh, God. I can never sleep now. My sleep is gone forever." "Thank you for the information, ma'am." "Anything for Amisha. She was a good girl. Very helpful." "Did she live alone?" "Since her divorce, yes." "What about her family?" "I don't know. She never talked about them." "Do you have the husband's number?" "I have a number. I don't know if it's still in use." "Shetty, take the number." Shruti turned to Rohan, who had just come out of the lift.

"They have four CCTV cameras, but only the back entrance one works. God knows why they have kept it. Secretary says they were going to repair it this weekend." "The weekend is already here. Idiots." "I went to the opposite building, but that's an old society, so they still haven't installed, but I found one at a restaurant diagonally opposite." "Good. I hope we get something." Shetty gave a small sheet. "There, that's Amisha's ex-husband's number. It might be an old number too. See if it matches, or else we go through her phone records." Avinash called up as soon as Shruti entered her cabin. "Tell me something good." "The woman was killed between the same window time as Aditya." "I hope the murders are related." "It is related. Both of them were killed by the same knife, which was 2 inches wide. Both of them have the same black particle, mostly left by the knife, in their stomach area. In my opinion, it's an old knife which is about to break." "So we have a double murder now." "Yes."

Rohan entered the room just then, and Shruti cut the call after thanking him. "Ma'am, Amisha Mishra was an executive with an MNC off RM road. I spoke to her colleagues, and they said she was an introverted person who kept to herself. Her cellphone has been with Raina, she is looking up the contacts there, but everything seems to be clean. She is still checking." "What about family and friends?" "Looks like she didn't have a family. I got nothing on that. Friends are too few. I had to hack her social media accounts to get to know if she had any friends. A woman named Rishika has been in constant touch with her. Rishika Ramani." "Did you speak to her?" "I did. She lives nearby, so I called her here. She is waiting outside." "Good. Get her in." "A woman in her late 20′s entered the room. With big sunglasses and a tote bag, she was more suited for a beach trip. "Rishika Ramani?" "Yes." Shruti offered a handshake. "I am Officer Shruti Ravindran. I am the lead investigator in this case. I am sorry for your loss, ma'am. How close were you to Amisha Mishra?" "I was the one who had introduced Kunal to her." "Kunal?" "Her husband. I mean ex-husband." "Oh."

"We both worked in Unitech company. It was the first job for both of us. She was living in a rented pg, and so was I. We both connected over it, and that's how our friendship was born. Kunal is my school friend. We met him one day in a mall when we went to watch a movie, and both of them hit it off. Eventually, they fell in love and got married." "I see. Why did they separate?"
