Insecurity Menace Vis-a-vis National Development: Nigeria Needs Help.

In a recent documentary revealed by British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC Africa Eye, one Abu Sanni, a notorious bandit kingpin confessed that the Nigerian government is complicit in the insecurity situation, especially in the acts of terrorism ravaging certain parts of our dear fatherland.

Again, in a similar development, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase revealed during a plenary session that President Buhari received 44 different warnings from the Department of State Service, DSS, over expected attacks across the nation's capital, Abuja. That the federal government received security reports and looked the other way, allowing terrorists to enter the federal capital territory to maim, kidnap and kill, is clearly evident that the APC-led federal administration does not truly care about our innocent lives and the safety of our hard-earned property.

It is indeed clear proof that the government has a hand in the continued threat to security in Nigeria, thus clearly confirming the words spoken by General Sanni Abacha, the late former head of state, that in any insurgency which lasts more than 48 hours, a government official has a hand in it. Dear Nigerians, we may recall that the running mate to HE Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, made us understand shortly after his unveiling as the Vice Presidential Candidate that the government benefits from the insecurity.

In other words, the menace of insecurity ravaging us has become a business for our government officials. Hence they really don't care about safeguarding our lives and property from harm. Obviously, our government knows everything about the causes of the insecurity situation and where the solution lies. Thus, the forgoing should be borne in mind, going into the 2023 general presidential election, vis-a-vis the capacity Obi-Datti Candidacy portends. The former governor of Anambra State and LP Presidential Candidate, HE Peter Obi, when asked about his security plan for the country in a Channels TV's live interview on Monday, answered in clear terms that his government, once elected in next year's election and sworn in, will take immediate and decisive action toward fighting insurgency that has been paralyzing our national growth and development.

In his words, "The plan will be immediate and decisive. I will pull people out of poverty. It has been proven that the more you pull people out of poverty, the more you reduce crime. I will invest in education and military manpower. All options will be on the table." Certainly, the man we also call Okwute wasn't bluffing there. He was not making empty rhetorics of promise either. He knows his onions. He means business. He knows what he is saying and how best to go in implementing his security plans. He has done it before. So, he knows best how to tackle it head-on and decisively too. Flashing back, at the time he was assuming his mandate as governor, he inherited a state that was a home for all criminals - kidnappings, armed robberies, arsons, etc., were the order of the day.

Yet, his administration fought the men of the underworld to a total standstill. By the end of his eight-year administration, Anambra was adjudged one of the safest states to live in Nigeria. Yes, Nigeria needs help in abating and averting the dangerous trend of insecurity in the dear nation, and Obi-Datti Candidacy is that help we need now or never.
