Lesson From The Tale Of Nine-tailed

If you have watched the movie 'Tale of the nine-tailed, you will easily recall the scene where the spirit of darkness initiates people by giving the victim juice and asking him what he fears the most.

That's how the spirit of Darkness traps people with a song and whoever listens to the song never comes back alive from the underworld. Yet that's not what I want to tell you. I want you to follow me gradually, I want to show you a strategy for fighting your fear.

In the movie, a scene opens when the spirit of Darkness met Rang and Yi Ah and asked them the question 'what do you fear the most? At a point, Yeon had to choose between his brother and girlfriend. Guess what? He chose his brother, but that's not why I am writing this. Follow me!

Yeon's dream was to become a Human. Yi Ah's dream was to meet her missing parents. Rang's dream was to have a cherishing family and be loved. All of them had dreams but amidst what they wanted the future to be like grows their fear. Everyone has what they fear the most. We have what keeps us in the cage for long. Rang fears that someday he will be left alone as his mom did 20 years back.

Fast forward to when Rang and his brother were fighting the evil spirit, he got hurt that he couldn't walk. And guess what this young Rang did? He gave up! But he recalled the last incident that happened before he found himself in the underworld. How the spirit of darkness approached him and asked him what he feared the most. He never answered the question at the first encounter. He answered it in the underworld on the verge of dying. Rang first discovered what he fears the most, and he faced it. May I ask you the same question? WHAT DO YOU FEAR THE MOST? Next, let me take you to the underworld where you will fight this fear.

If you seemed unable to answer the question, you will not win the battle of the underworld. If you can answer the question, it becomes easier to win. How can you be fighting against something you don't know, that's absurd. Fear is invisible! But it torments. Can you be like Rang who fears becoming abandoned and has to fight his fears even when his brother who came to help him got struck? Know your fear and face it! Facing your fear and not knowing what you are facing is equal to making yourself miserable before the battle begins.

Three points I want to drive home from here is: KNOW YOUR FEAR, SAY IT OUT AND FACE IT!
