Magic Word Scene 2

Magic Word: Scene 2 Thank You. Appreciation is the best...( A week later, the triplet woke up to see the sitting room full of balloons of different colors).

Susy: Bayo, Shellie, what do you think our gift is going to be when only the sitting room is full of balloons?

Bayo: Dad, Mum, we are here already.

Dad and Mum: ( comes suddenly ) Happy Birthday.

( As they finish singing the birthday song and also praying, there is a knock on the door.)

Pelly: ( comes in with a gift) Happy birthday, girlfriend.

Susy: Pelly, ( rushes out and hugs her)

Bayo: ( fakes a cough ) She brought a gift for only her friend.

Shelter: Abi o, you did not see, you know that we did not have friends.

Pelly: ( hisses) How can I bring something for you? Are you my friend? I can only bring something for Bayo even if I want to give anybody something apart from my friend. Bayo gave me a hat on my birthday, and Susy gave me a pair of jeans. But Shellie is too stingy. Bayo, come and collect your gift tomorrow.

Susy: Leave them alone, but I thought you said you were going to Abuja with your dad.

Pelly: Yes, o, I begged him to let me drop the gift. I wish I could stay girlfriend, but I have to go. So I decided to just drop the gift here take ( she gives Susy the gift and leaves).

Dad: It is time to open the gifts.

(The triplet opens their gift wrappers.)

Bayo: A remote-controlled toy car!

Shelter: A doll house!

Susy: A remote-controlled toy car and a dollhouse! Thank God I have a friend. Shellie, the two of us will share it together.

(They rush to their rooms.)

Dad and Mum: ( surprised) Not even a thank you.

Children.

(The triplet comes back).

Dad: There is another thing I'd love to give you as a birthday present.

Triplet: OMG, this is too much

Mum: A magic word. It is called THANK YOU. When you say it, it turns something into plenty.

Dad: Some of the things we have were acquired by this word. But wait, don't get me wrong, most of the things we have were acquired by praying.

Mum: Even when talking to God, we had to say THANK YOU.

Susy: Wow, I am taking my doll house to school tomorrow; I will make it plenty. This is going to be fun. ( runs to her room)

Shelter: Me too.

Bayo: Me too.

Shelter: As if you have a doll house, you copycat.

Bayo: Bayo, don't talk; silence is the best answer ...

Shelter: ( interrupts) For a fool, right? Okay. Eke sobo. Shellie, don't waste your saliva.

(They go to their room.)

Dad: I think we just achieved our aim ( Laughs)

Mum: chop knuckle, chop knuckle.

(The two knuckles).

Dad: It's time to cut, eat the birthday cake, and dance.

(The triplet rush back).
