My Friends Wedding

My friends wedding is a true life story of how our tongue can alter the course of our plans.

Have you ever attended a wedding where the bride cried? Do brides still cry during their wedding ceremonies? Have you ever wondered why brides cry when they are given away in marriage by their fathers? Are there different circumstances that could cause a teary eye ๐Ÿ‘€ on one's wedding day? These and more questions ran through my thoughts as I listened ๐Ÿ‘‚ to the torrents of complaints around me on Saturday, the 10th of December, 2022. We had all planned to shout and glory on this day; it was our friend's wedding, after all, and what better day to encourage her than this day?

As we prepare for the wedding, others are going for facials and others for the best gowns and shoes ๐Ÿ‘ . While the bride's parents and well wishes were yet to arrive at the venue, a call came, and the joining was over. They were wedded without their friends. Just the marriage committee. It was over in a flash. The reverend had given the bride out in marriage ๐Ÿ‘ซ to the groom in place of the bride's father.

Wow! The bride's father, before the wedding day, had said he wouldn't give the bride out in marriage if she wore earrings; his religion forbids it. And here comes the bride in the obscene of the father, wearing earrings and the reverend giving her away in marriage. A twist of event, you would say. I say it is the power of the tongue.
