Many a time challenges defines and brings to light the measure of our faith and knowledge of God and His truth. Be greatly blessed as you read through.
Num. 11: 13-23. Numbers 11:10-11, 14 - 'Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased. And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? And wherefore have I not found favor in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all these people upon me? I am not able to bear all these people alone because it is too heavy for me." The man Moses who talked with God's mouth, also had a great challenge on trust and belief. The pressure and the burden came upon him because of the people he was leading.
And this brought him to a phase where he took his eyes and heart away from trusting God and complained bitterly before Him. Occasionally, intense pressure reveals one's feebleness and weakness before God. And many a time, such fierce circumstances may want to make a believer a recluse and make his faith fail in order for him to forget all the great things God has wrought in his life. And many, have one way or the other, had the same challenges Moses had with the Israelites. After He poured out his heart and pain to God concerning the people and their murmuring. The Lord answered him and told him that He would give them flesh, and they shall eat, and they shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days neither ten days nor twenty days but a whole month until it comes out of their nostrils and become loathsome unto them. Because they have despised the LORD and ungratefully complained and murmured. (Num. 11:20).
This is where Moses used his common sense to ask God how this would be made possible considering the number of people with him - six hundred thousand footmen he would give meat to for a whole month. We size God up easily with our reasoning whenever we encounter issues that are beyond us. (Num. 11:21-22). But God in His mercy, who also knew the pressure that befell him, answered him, "Is the Lord's hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not. (Num. 11:23). God knows about our life challenges such that when we question His ability out of unbelief, doubt, and lack of faith. He will yet, in His mercy, respond to us and help us to believe and trust Him.
If God did this to Moses, who didn't have the Holy Spirit indwelling him yet helped him believe with His response. He can do much more with His Spirit in us. This is why it is needful to renew our minds and align our thinking with His by the help and power of the Holy Spirit. One thing to avoid also is to be careful not to tempt and provoke Him to wrath with persistent complaints and to murmur, which is an act of ingratitude, unbelief, doubt, and lack of faith in Him. May the Lord help us to stop reasoning, Him the Great Giver, of our reasoning. And may He help us to believe in His unfailing ability and divine strength to do much more in our lives in Jesus' Name.
