Single, Single- God When, Not God Anyhow.

This short article talks about the things single people face and what relationships actually mean.

“When are you going to get a boyfriend? “When are you going to get a girlfriend? “When are you going to settle down?” “When will you give love a chance?” If you’re lucky, you’ll be asked,” How often do you leave the house? Do you go out to parties? Are you in a prayer group?” These are the questions that single people are always asked. If you’re the kind that often drags your single friend, you need to understand something. Not everyone is ready for a relationship. I wouldn’t say that our society is obsessed with relationships. I would just say that they put so much thought into it. Guess what, matchmaker? Not everyone wants to date.

Relationships come with a lot of responsibilities. Are you ready for it? Sure, it might be nice to be on a 5-hour call with your boo, or maybe go on nice dates, or yes, have your lovey-dovey moments, but guess what? Relationships come with the bad and the good. Do you think the couples you see are always happy? I am probably the mushiest person in the world. I would spend my free time having scenarios about my Instagram Crush, who probably doesn’t know I exist. My favorite phrase is “God when?” But am I ready for a relationship? Nope, I don’t think so.

Financially, mentally and also physically, I am not ready. But mind you, I still crave love, which is not a bad thing. Some people would make you feel bad about wanting love, wanting someone to call every day. It’s not a bad thing. After all, Adam does need Eve. You’re familiar with the phrase “God, when?” Well, I am. I see a couple- especially if they look my age. I watch them being all lovey-dovey, sprinkling their little love dust everywhere for either envy or admiration. Of course, there is a bad belle part of every single person that thinks, “Oh, please get out,” But there’s also another part of me that is extremely mushy and craves love.

I would probably think or utter to myself, “God, when?” People make it seem that if you don’t have someone, there’s something wrong with you. There’s nothing wrong with taking your time and enjoying life. We come from a society where relationships are like a demand. How do you put it? Everyone is in one form of relationship_ Situationship, an open relationship… anything. How do you feel when you hear the words “When are you going to get a man?” or “Why don’t you have a man?”

As a single girl, three feelings steer up inside me after those words. Anger, because people just have to mind their business. Loneliness because everyone needs someone. That’s why God made Eve, right? To keep Adam company. And finally, sadness. You may think about the reason, “Why don’t I have a man?” What exactly am I not doing right? The size of my nose? I don’t have enough rack. Is my career not spontaneous enough? What is it?

Don’t let society push you into dating someone who isn’t right for you. A Thanos-looking someone, a person with the mindset of a child or the devil. You deserve the best. You can let ‘Yama-yama’ people date ‘yama-yama’ people. You deserve top-notch people. I’m not a relationship coach! I could never be. But I am a human being, and I wouldn’t love to have a relationship with someone who isn’t ready.

Remember God when, not God anyhow, please.
