Story Of A Bibliophile

"There are books in this house; get one and read." Those were the words of my father to my younger brother some time ago when I came home for a break. Among all my siblings, he was the only one who had to be coerced to read. So imagine my surprise, coming home this time around to find that he had read a few of the books we had at home.

As far back as I can remember, books have always been around the house. Few at first, but they've multiplied over time. If you asked me why I loved fiction, I could give you a billion and one reason, and none would explain the way I feel. The funny thing is that most books we had when I was much younger were motivational books: Rich Dad, Poor Dad, The Richest Man in Babylon, and The 48 Laws of Power. None of which really grabbed my interest.

What did was the story of a lawyer who faked his death, stole a huge amount of money, attended his funeral, disappeared for more than four years, and let himself be caught because he was tired of hiding (The Partner by John Grisham), and of course "Gifted Hands" by Ben Carson. But these, I read in a jiffy and looked for more to read. I loved stories and couldn't have had enough of them. Unfortunately, they were nowhere to be found around my locality. Found myself scanning through English textbooks and magazines, looking for stories to read. And then fortune found me the day I came across a stack of Christian magazines belonging to my big sis who was away in school...
