5 WAYS TO DEVELOP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE AS A TEENAGER
"Some days are like that," my mum said to me. But, I know I struggled with getting along with life. If only I could change my perspective about life and handle life with ease. If only I could be grateful for the things, life had given me. If only I could celebrate my little wins. Then, my life could have been better. But thank God, my life is now better because I changed my attitude. Many teenagers are at this table. You wonder if your case is different when you see others radiating happiness and beaming a tremendous smile to the world. No, it's not. Here's the challenge; a negative attitude.
When you have a negative attitude towards life, you cannot see the brighter side of life. Everything becomes unfair to you. You feel people owe you a lot; entitlement mentality. You don't see the possibility in anything. But, when you have a positive attitude, you'll enjoy life and its fullness. You'll have inner peace and endless joy. The question is; how can one develop a positive attitude?
1. BE GRATEFUL
Many are seeking to be in that position you are. Many are craving to attain that height and level you've reached. But to you, it's nothing. For the free gift of life bestowed willingly unto you by your Creator, be grateful. For the opportunity to have a taste of what good living is, be grateful. Be grateful and give thanks to the Lord, O ye Teens!
2. CELEBRATE YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENT
Don't wait till you kill a lion. That feat you were bold enough to achieve, celebrate yourself for it. Some people can't even do it. Yes. Be proud of what you've done. Commend yourself and be happy. It will inspire you to do more.
3. ACCEPT THAT NO ONE IS PERFECT, Including you!
Don't kill yourself trying to be perfect. You'll get frustrated, and you'll have yourself to blame. Doing your best is different from striving to be perfect. Perfectionism is a disease. When you have a positive attitude towards accomplishing something, you just know that you have to do your best and leave the rest to God.
4. DON'T BE TOO HARD ON YOURSELF
Laugh. Interact. Connect. Love. You just need to admit that some moments are funny. Let it flow. Don't be too serious with life. High blood pressure is real. It's no respecter of age. Don't always ignore things that make you happy and emotionally sound. Mistakes are bound to occur. Learn from it and make necessary adjustments. It's vain to remain there lamenting and reflecting. When you fall, Pick something - a lesson. Get up. Make a decision. Move_Change.
5. SPEAK TO THAT VOICE IN YOUR HEAD.
Hey, you negative voice, shut up! Those thoughts say you're not good enough. Those voices keep highlighting our flaws and weaknesses. Those inner voices keep telling us how worthless we are because of past mistakes. Do you keep silent on it? Next time, tell it to shut up. "I know who I am. I can be better." Focus on your strength more than your weakness.
It tells you: "You don't know mathematics."
Tell it: "Yes! I don't, but I know English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. So, how about that?" If you rebuke it one or two times, it will never come back again. To control this negative voice;
1. Stay away from negative people - pessimists. Do things with people who positively reinforce you.
2. Talk positively. Negative comments stir up these voices that torment us. Whenever you're tempted to say something negative, slap your mouth immediately. A positive attitude will help to get what you want out of life while having fun and being happy.
In every nonSENSE, there's a sense. Ask yourself, " What was the best part of my day?" Focus on that and stay happy. Positive Attitude Is Essential To Productive Living.
