Week End

It's been a while here..."Monah, write this out properly." "Monah, would you settle this account for me?" "Monah, oga (the boss) sent for you, o."

"Monah, write this out properly." "Monah, would you settle this account for me?" "Monah, oga (the boss) sent for you, o." "Monah... Monah... Monah..." Monah this, Monah that! "Ahn ahn, let Monah breathe, please.", I retorted to the newbie who came to make a report on an account he couldn't account. I was breathing heavily, thirsty, and tired from the day's work already. It was just 11 am, but I've been in almost all the departments in the company today.

I was on the verge of losing it, and the straw that broke the camel's back was my Uncle, who decided to hoard my father's properties to himself after his death. I couldn't even hold a proper burial for him. I spent all my savings on making sure I got a decent apartment for my family. Am I the first child? No, but my elder brother ran away from home two years ago and never looked back. My elder sister suddenly developed a strange illness towards the beginning of the year, and it has been a rollercoaster ride since then.

My mom worked so hard that she developed an acute backache. So unfortunate a family! I remembered the joy on our faces when I got a job in one of the multimillionaire companies around. I always wanted to work in a big company, and like that, it came. However, some people were relieved of their job, and the process of getting substitutes for them has been quite slow and tacky. So, I've been at the beck and call of everyone for the past four weeks.

Today, I took out my frustration on Tolu, the new guy. Wasn't he supposed to know this? I checked the calendar. Today's Thursday. I tend to forget things easily. "I thought it was Friday", my mind screamed. Looking at the heap of documents on my office desk, I shouted, "Let the weekend."
