GOD CAN FALL AND BE CRIPPLED!... Prepare you, the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him. (Mark 1:3 NIV).
Our topic today looks contradictory and suspicious right? But be patient with me as I explain the reason why God can fall and be crippled. I believe you know that God has legs because the scriptures say...the Earth is His footstool... (Isa 66:1), He wouldn't need a footstool if He didn't have a leg. Also, God walks with these legs, ...as He was heard *walking* in the garden of Eden in the cool of the day. (Gen. 3:8). Since we have established that God has legs and that He walks, how then does He fall?
In 2Sam. 6:6... It says the Ark of God (which signified the presence of God or God Himself) shook, stumbled, almost fell as it was being carried, and that was why Uzzah put forth his hand to support it (and was killed doing that). That was one scenario of God almost falling. What then could be the reason why God stumbled and almost fell?... The reason was the lives (animals) carrying Him and the rough paths they were treading...
Those wanting to carry God still want to retain their animalistic nature (not wanting the nature of Christ) and also want to walk in crooked paths and still carry God. Such will always make God stumble and fall. Hence, God will not honor any of your invitations for His presence anymore in your life until you Prepare the way for the Lord and make His path straight. You need to know that sin and evil pleasures constitute chain gallops and rough paths in your life and that when God tries to walk in you and with you, He trips and falls and sometimes even becomes crippled...
If the governor of your state or a very reputable person in the society was to pay you a visit, wouldn't you prepare your house, if possible, clear the grasses leading to your house, wash all dirty dishes, etc.?. I believe you'll do your best to have everywhere sparkling clean in preparation for your guest. How much more should you prepare for the King of Glory! Do you wonder why God has not come to our lives and families yet despite our prayers and fasting? We have not yet prepared the way for Him; those idols and worldly passions of our hearts are a stumbling block to Him; if we don't make our paths and lives straight and He tries to come in, He'll fall...
We can't be playing with sin and pampering the potholes of anger, malice, and unforgiveness and still expect His outpouring in our lives. If God tries to come, He'll fall. Our unprepared hearts and lives are what are hindering the move of God in our generation. Are you a pastor? Do you have a congregation or some sort of following? You can't host God in that place if you play low on the matter of purity and righteousness... You have to prepare the way for God if you want God to move in your midst, and the way to prepare the way is no other way than how John the Baptist prepared the way... He preached repentance from sin and led men to be baptized (death to self)... (Mark 1:4). You can't host God by making the church a place of comedy or fashion parade or empty activities... You host God by taking sin out of the way; you host God by not hosting or condoling unrighteousness so that He can walk in your midst and not stumble nor be crippled.
Beloved brothers and sisters, we can cripple the move of God in our lives and generations by the stumbling blocks of sin, hypocrisy, unbelief, and crooked lifestyle we live. Hence, if God must come to your life, family, ministry, academics, business, etc., *Prepare you, the way for the Lord, and make your paths straight.* Then and then alone will He come and pour out His glory upon you without measure. Know it today that we are the ones that can make God fall and be crippled in our lives, family, ministry, etc. Let's repent today; our invitation of Him is meaningless, for He won't come until we make our lives and ways straight and upright.
